Battle at Resaca
As part of Stewart's Division of Hood's corps, the 38th participated in heavy fighting throughout the battle.
On May 14th, heavy fighting along Camp Creek resulted in the repulse of a massive Union attack. Meanwhile, a Confederate attempt to turn the Northern position occurred late in the day while the Federals drove the Southern left flank dangerously close to Resaca. On May 15th, a massive attack by two Union Corps hammered the Confederate line, but was repulsed in heavy fighting. A second Confederate attack was foiled by a Federal flanking manuever. The position at Resaca became untenable.
